009 Things Acquired - [text;]

You know, there's something to be said about this place.

I get here in April and things are strange as a newcomer. It takes some getting used to, but it's not all bad. Then there's May and that's when things get screwy. The weird hail during an otherwise sunny week, and then that weekend when everything went to hell with the crystals and people popping up who aren't normally here. I only wish I could remember more of it clearly.

Then, in June, it snowed that one day. Actually snowed! In the middle of summer! What the hell are the chances of that? It melted the next day naturally so whatever caused it fixed itself.

July gave us a hurricane with sharks flying through the air and then August was suspiciously normal when it comes to weather.

Now, here we are, three days into September, and we've already had dogs and cats falling from the sky like someone up there is taking a metaphor a little too literally.

I'm disappointed we didn't get snakes raining from the sky today. Or porcupines.

I've been here just about five months now and I must admit this place has its ways of keeping a person entertained.

You realize that in another two months or so we're due for that sudden influx of people again - the ones who aren't supposed to be here.

It seems to happen every six months or so. At least we can remember it now; it was different when I first arrived.

Snakes would have been interesting. But porcupines? Congratulations you thought of something worse than sharks.

...but that might have been funny if I could just stay inside and watch actually.
explosivecombat: (How cruel...)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2014-09-03 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, no, it happened with about the same frequency - I believe, anyway, I couldn't tell you for sure. We would quite simply have three-day periods where we couldn't remember anything that happened.

That's quite the apt summary of everything that's happened, really.

You weren't here for February, though, when we had some other strange weather — the exact same thing for a good week straight, sunny and mild with no variation whatsoever, and unseasonably warm for a winter month.

Why would you ever want porcupines raining from the sky?

[...That isn't why he was going to respond to this, hang on.]

The weather here has been pretty weird in the past. At some point you've just got to accept that it's always going to be weird and take cover inside when weird things happen. Admittedly I never expected the sharks or cats and dogs, but it's not really worth getting worked up over.
explosivecombat: (It's no accident that I've survived)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2014-09-03 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I have perfect recall; I don't forget things. Believe me, considering it "a problem" was putting it lightly.
doitrockapella: (HURT ❖ it's cool it's only a flesh wound)

[personal profile] doitrockapella 2014-09-03 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Whatever it is, it's unusual; years past haven't seen weather as variable or as strange as this.

Suffice to say, the cats and dogs falling from the sky isn't standard, either.
armoredsoul: (Hm?)

[personal profile] armoredsoul 2014-09-03 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You would consider all that entertainment.

What exactly happened with the crystals? Were they transporting people at random or something?
explosivecombat: (I haven't the vaguest where he's gone)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2014-09-03 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
We're not sure, actually. That's one of those things that no one figured out, there are reasonably few of us here that still even remember it being that way, and now that it seems to have..."fixed itself", in a manner of speaking, no one questions it anymore.

The people here are as complacent as they are anywhere else, in other words. Once something stops being an inconvenience, they never try to work out why it was ever an inconvenience to begin with.
doitrockapella: (ROPE ❖ just this and forced perspective)

[personal profile] doitrockapella 2014-09-03 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me ask you a question first. When you'd arrived here in April, was it in time for the party at the Elite Four's mansion in Tohjo Falls?
glaciates: (EXPLAIN ❅ i can't believe this shit)

[personal profile] glaciates 2014-09-03 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how that would be funny at all. You get hit with one of those things and you're dead.

I would say it's normal around here, but I don't remember the weather being this weird when I first arrived here.

[Then again, he pretty much lived in the ice caves, so...]
doitrockapella: (BOW ❖ holy shit was that an honorific)

[personal profile] doitrockapella 2014-09-03 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
In that case, I'll make sure to elaborate a little more thoroughly —

During that unseasonably warm weather in February, there was a swarm of mysterious Pokemon we couldn't identify then, as well. We eventually found out, a few months later, that they'd migrated to a wet area between the two regions — Tohjo Falls — and that some experts from surrounding locales had been invited to examine them.

I should hope not, that's the sort of thing Scar thinks you'd do.

But porcupines from here you know would breathe fire or shoot lightning or something else. Walking down the street would be an adventure.
armoredsoul: (Unsure)

[personal profile] armoredsoul 2014-09-03 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So they were...bending space or something? Jeez, that's weird. ...but then so is it literally raining cats and dogs, so I guess that's the new normal here or something.

You said people who weren't normally here appeared as well?
