[And get an immediate answer or not, Geed is going to wander the town with the strange cat thing following close by. This feels much closer to the freedom he had been searching for in the first place, even if there is a nagging sensation in the back of his mind that something is extremely off.

Really, he can't be worried. He's escaped the bitch as far as he's concerned so he's going to be stopping every single person he runs into to ask about the town hoping he can learn something useful because he sure as hell can't blend in. He might as well stick out in the most obnoxious way possible.

[Not that he really minds. There was a greater than average chance he was walking into his own death and he's remarkably okay with that, all things considered.]

[Damn it Greed don't get weird on him he doesn't know how to deal with that. An odd look crosses Envy's own face, before he frowns. Clearly he knows something about this.]

Anyway, she isn't here, and she never has been.

[Completely ignoring that first comment.]

[He's honestly not sure how he feels about Dante never being here.]

I'd hate for things to be tense around here. Wouldn't want you selling me out again.

[Envy just laughs.]

Then it's a good thing I don't have anyone to sell you out to, isn't it?

[No feeling guilty about what he did before, but he'll at least make it clear that there's no reason for him to do it again. Not here.]

You and I both know she couldn't do anything here even if she wanted to.

She can't rip the stones from my body if there aren't any there to begin with.

And she'd need alchemy to do it with, which she also wouldn't have.

But you and I also both know she doesn't give up easily.

[Envy absolutely doesn't want her here. If she couldn't hurt him, she'd be able to hurt the people he cares about instead. With words if nothing else.]

[It shows in his voice, that her showing up wouldn't be something he'd be happy about.]

[It's weird to hear Envy in such agreement with him, but really, he can't complain. Not about something like this.]

[Envy's changed, and it's slightly disconcerting.]

[He sighs, his voice quieting down without him intending it.]

[Comparatively, it's not that long. Against four hundred, it should have been nothing.]

[But three years away from Dante and surrounded by constant love and friendship? It's plenty.]

[Really, it's just more proof that he's been right all along. That Dante is more monster than them and that they're better off without her, even if the red stones would eventually run out and mean they'd die.

Greed can't stand mortality but it's also a better option than ever seeing Dante again.

It's probably lucky that he's not one to brag about things that aren't personal accomplishments.]

[Envy was half expecting Greed to brag about being right all along, and even when it doesn't happen right away his shoulders are still tense with the expectation.]

[Talking with Greed like this is strange, bordering on uncomfortable. But it has to be said, it's not like Greed wouldn't notice, and Envy would rather say it on his own terms.]

[Perhaps sensing the tension, Lucky lets out a long whine, and Envy absently puts his free hand on the Houndoom's head. That's something else that's different, because Envy never had much tolerance for animals back home.]

So I've noticed.

[That dog again. It's bothering him. Envy isn't the sort to be around animals, that much Greed knows for sure. But then he's been here for nearly four years.

Maybe Greed should brag about that sort of thing because, really, he hates Envy for everything that's happened.]
