[Oh, look. It's Greed on video. This is something of a rarity.

He's obviously outside and on one of the routes at the moment, looking annoyed more than anything else.]

You know, I thought I had this place reasonably figured out. Got a decent grasp on battling, don't really mind living out of a hotel room, and since it's summer, traveling between cities is actually not that bad.

That being said, what the hell is this?

[The camera shifts off of Greed and onto a bug-type that looks like a wheel.]

Cedric used to be a beetle. Why--

What the hell is he supposed to be? Can he even battle like this?!

How the hell does a beetle even change shape to begin with! It's the final stage of a metamorphosis so why the hell did he go and turn into that thing?

[And since he's facing the camera, he completely misses the Whirlipede rolling its eyes at him.]

Maybe they were deep enough underground no one thought it would be a problem. I wonder what caused them to grow so suddenly?

The answer to that would usually be a legendary Pokémon, but as far as I know none were seen this time.

That doesn't mean there wasn't one, though.

It just means that this legendary beast stayed hidden this time around.

...Which would be understandable, considering what happened to that poor dog two summers ago. Then again, that did not stop others from showing themselves...

"Poor dog"...?

Did something happen to one of the legendary Pokemon?

It was temporarily captured by Team Rocket. Its brethren's reaction was... not pretty.

Aren't they the people that attacked the train a while back?

They're not very bright for terrorists, are they?

They've had their successes, over the years. Along with their failures and their garbage-related plans, which cannot possibly have made their members happy.

Ah, that's right. When I first arrived, I was told about how one of them-- I think it was Team Rocket anyway-- attacked one of the cities.

I forget which one it was, though.

So they're either incredibly competent or they're kidnapping gods that look like dogs.

[Which is sort of hilarious.]

...They must certainly have multiple strategists with... very different success rates.

[It's the only explanation for some of those plans. That, or way too many of those Frosty Jynx from the very seedy bars.]

That or their one strategist is usually drunk.

...That would explain much of their... less conventional plans.

I've only heard about the train attack.

[If only he had been in Goldenrod. He would have watched everything go downhill spectacularly if he could.]

That's only the latest in a very long list, I believe. There were explosions, fires, thefts; I do believe they were also linked to the poisoned Christmas cookies...

Right, there was that attack before I showed up here, too.

They have bursts of activity every few months or so. Not all end well for them, but they've still caused plenty of damage.

[Honestly, he'll be pretty entertained either way...]

I guess someone has to make things interesting around here.

This world is interesting enough without their help. In ways that are lees cruel than stealing Pokémon from unarmed women and children.

[He nods.]

Sometimes people just like being cruel.

Even if it rarely ends well for them.

[He's seen the reverse happen more often than the other. Cruel people get away with being cruel because they're the ones in power and those that would stand up to them get stamped out in an instant.

And even when tyrants fall, another one comes along to take the old one's place. It's a never ending cycle.

Team Rocket is apparently just not organized to do what Dante did with the homunculi.]

Something like that anyway.

Especially in this case, since it seems they are outnumbered by trainers and breeders. If everyone banded together against them, their lives would become very unpleasant very quickly.

[Not that it would ever happen, but it's still nice to imagine.]

[That would involve Greed giving a damn, unfortunately. Sure, plenty of people might care but Team Rocket hasn't done anything to him.]

They'd regroup.

That would take some time, depending on the scale of their defeat. Time that everyone else would surely appreciate.

Well, when was the last time they did anything? April? And that didn't even seem to have these big names people keep whispering about attached.

It seems they have downtime more than most criminal organizations.
