[Oh, look. It's Greed on video. This is something of a rarity.

He's obviously outside and on one of the routes at the moment, looking annoyed more than anything else.]

You know, I thought I had this place reasonably figured out. Got a decent grasp on battling, don't really mind living out of a hotel room, and since it's summer, traveling between cities is actually not that bad.

That being said, what the hell is this?

[The camera shifts off of Greed and onto a bug-type that looks like a wheel.]

Cedric used to be a beetle. Why--

What the hell is he supposed to be? Can he even battle like this?!

How the hell does a beetle even change shape to begin with! It's the final stage of a metamorphosis so why the hell did he go and turn into that thing?

[And since he's facing the camera, he completely misses the Whirlipede rolling its eyes at him.]

I think he looks kind of pretty with the markings and everything.

He was a cute little beetle that slept all the time. Now look at him! He's a giant... wheel thing. How is Greed supposed to carry around that? And he looks heavy.]

Yeah, it's the first time. I went and got an Everstone for Martel. Maybe I should have done the same for him.

Quite simply, the creatures here don't follow any 'normal' process when it comes to their life cycles.

And I'm certain it's still quite capable of battling.

I'm pretty sure the spines in front and back would get in the way of movement pretty easily.

[Cedric is still one lazy bug and does absolutely nothing to correct him.]

[...Greed pats him on the shell just the same. He might not know what the hell he's going to do with a four foot tall wheel, but Cedric isn't going anywhere.]

[Luckily Cedric is chill and lazy despite constantly looking angry.]

Those big spikes he has are poisonous, apparently. I'm not too keen on testing that out, though.

I wouldn't bother questioning it if I were you; I wasted a large portion of time here getting irritated about the evolutions that made no sense. It's better just to accept that this world is completely different from ours and move on.

[His first breakdown about this involved shrieking histrionics over a cat hatching from an egg, so he's not sure if that's better or worse.]

The final evolution of that particular line should be interesting. It's a powerful Pokémon from what I've seen. I've never raised one, however.

[One of the first Pokemon he got was a Ponyta from the Breeding Centre, and all he did was get a strange mix of frustrated and amused at the idea of a horse hatching from an egg.]

That does seem the easiest thing to do.

I looked it up and he's going to be huge. He'll stand out, at the very least.

Most Bug-types have an evolution or two, to compensate for their relative weakness. The life cycle of their original form matters little.

[But that doesn't help a lot, does it? Let's try to fix that.]

...He'll surely be able to learn Rollout and Defense Curl, with that shape. That'll give him an advantage against Flying-type.

...that mean if I ever found him a lady Venipede, they'd hatch into beetles right away?

I'm not sure what he can learn like this. I haven't looked up to see what he can learn. I guess if he's capable of learning more attacks, it proves he can do something even as a spikey wheel.

[Yeah, no. He doesn't get a response. Not because the Pokemon is mad at him, but because he's fallen back asleep.]

Woah! He looks pretty darn cool! He can probably roll around really fast and ram people away!

[Anna is most certainly impressed! She's seen her fair share of bug types, but this one was just plain awesome!]

[And just like that, he's suddenly over being frustrated because you know what. It's true. The species might look ridiculously stupid, but he is a spiked wheel.]

He's pretty good when he isn't napping.

No, he hasn't. It's usually three evolutions for Bug-types, from what I've heard.

Still, I preferred him when he was a small beetle.

I really can't say that progression is that bad, to be honest. There certainly are some... strange ones out there.

At the very least, he's glad it's not the norm for every world. A bug turning into a wheel. What the hell.]

Well, that might explain the wheel thing, right? Pill bugs resemble wheels a bit when they roll up.

I think it's safe to say bug-types are full of surprises. At least he should be easy to evolve? Pasha evolved surprisingly quick after he transformed into a Metapod.

And he could still battle. ... Somehow.

This place really shouldn't surprise me on that.

I guess he is is a wheel. And those spikes on him are poisonous. He must be able to defend himself somehow.

[It's pretty lucky that Greed is left handed and is thus holding up the 'Gear with the hand that completely gives away what he is.]

Nah, he's just evolved.

First time I've seen it. It's what happens when a Pokemon battles enough. Usually, anyway. I think there are some that never change.

[He might not have the slit pupils here, but his eyes are still the strange violet hue, and he still has those teeth.

Greed is being careful, but some things are certainly much more difficult to hide than others.]

Think of it like that awkward teenage phase. Good news is, it gets better. A lot better.

By the time he hits his final evolution, he'll be a powerhouse. Trust me.
