006 Things Acquired - [video;]

[Oh, look. It's Greed on video. This is something of a rarity.

He's obviously outside and on one of the routes at the moment, looking annoyed more than anything else.]

You know, I thought I had this place reasonably figured out. Got a decent grasp on battling, don't really mind living out of a hotel room, and since it's summer, traveling between cities is actually not that bad.

That being said, what the hell is this?

[The camera shifts off of Greed and onto a bug-type that looks like a wheel.]

Cedric used to be a beetle. Why--

What the hell is he supposed to be? Can he even battle like this?!

How the hell does a beetle even change shape to begin with! It's the final stage of a metamorphosis so why the hell did he go and turn into that thing?

[And since he's facing the camera, he completely misses the Whirlipede rolling its eyes at him.]

Confusion before the fact, quick recovery after. Then again, I doubt anyone knew it was more than a rare visit by Legendary Pokémon before it all happened...

[Seriously, they only sent one lonely reporter the last time it happened, and she didn't even have her Pokémon out. What kind of final boss party is that?]

Legendary Pokémon are extremely rare species that tend to live far away from humans, remembered mostly through legends.

[Which probably sounds obvious, when he says it out loud.]

In December two years ago, three of those legendaries revealed themselves, bringing terrible weather with them. And then the world ended.

With a very cold and snowy definition of 'better', yes.

[Still a December in the Pokémon world, after all.]

Reparing the damage done to certain cities took much time, but still less than I would have expected. I would have imagined years, rather than months.

Indeed, and that is when this world follows its own definition of 'normal' in the first place. When that's not the case... Have you ever seen completely emotionless people, repeating one or two sentences over and over again?

They were, once. It was terrifying, and the state of the world at the time did not help.

It was terrifying and creepy, true, but relatively harmless to us and sometimes even useful. Our Pokémon lost their personalities, the music was headache-inducing and the whole world looked blocky, but even the longest routes could be crossed in hours by foot.

Somewhat, but it happened in October instead of November or May, and we found candy in our bags once it all ended.

Luckily, it was not poisoned.

[Not that any of them bothered to check before digging in.]

What is also fortunate, and more than slightly surprising, is that none suffered from cavities after partaking.

[Therefore, the candy itself was obviously magic.]

Considering my world and many others I'm aware of, I'd not consider crystals so strange, as a matter of fact.

[A beat.]

...Though the ones that manifested themselves here were admittedly much larger than usual.

You'd think they'd have been found as the locals build cities over them, truly.

[Of course. Who didn't?]

The answer to that would usually be a legendary Pokémon, but as far as I know none were seen this time.
