So here's a question for all of you. What's the furthest you've been from home? Before coming here, I mean. This place doesn't count. I want to know how far people have traveled before coming here.

The name of the place you're from, the name of the place you like going. What your favorite city is called. Things like that.

I've always liked traveling. But I used to spend years in one place, even so. Always found myself drawn back to where I was born. It's one of those interesting things about people. I don't exactly miss the place, but I do find myself thinking about it sometimes. What it would be like if we could go back with memories of this place instead of forgetting everything.

So there's a second part of my question, I guess.

Say you go home, but you remember everything from here. What would you do with that information?

What if you arrived home at a time before the last thing you remember?

I come from a town that's a few minutes away from True Cross Academy town. That's probably a couple of hours or so away from Tokyo. Let's say if Tokyo is on the upper part of Japan, Kyuushu would be far opposite on the lower part of Japan.

As for the question about memory... I'd definitely stop it now that I have the chance to.

You've gone a long way, then. I don't know how big Amestris is compared to Japan, but that doesn't matter. I've gone pretty far, however.

Did something bad happen?

Exactly a day after I arrived here. My brother was here a while back and told me about it.

Do you think that's possible, though? That if we ever find a way home, they'll send us back exactly the day we left?

That must be hard living with. But there's nothing any of us can do about it.

I don't know if it's possible. That seems to be what happens but I can't tell you for certain. I don't think it's possible to change what's going to happen but it would certainly be nice, wouldn't it?

We're stuck here without a way to know if we can change it.

No one can. We're probably just better off trying to get used to being here until someone can give us some straight answers.

That doesn't seem too likely though, even if this place does look inviting enough.

I don't mind not having all the answers. Sometimes knowing the truth can only cause pain.

What if the answer is that we're all here by mistake? I'd rather not know at all.

If it's all the same, I'd really rather know the truth than to have someone cover things up.

I assumed they, whoever they are, probably didn't mean to bring us here to begin with. But if that's not the case, I'd like to know why we're here and if they have any intention of sending us back.

I know people who have been here for four years with no answer.

It's best not to dwell on it. Doing so will only make you unhappy in the long run.

That doesn't mean we should stop looking for one.

If anything, it's something to keep in mind while we explore this world.

I have my reasons for never wanting to return to where I came from.

Other people also have their reasons to go home.

That's the difference between me and you. You call where you came from "home".

My home is here.

But there's no reason that you can't look for a way back. Unless that way back would wreck things for those of us who would rather stay here.

Everyone has their reasons, sir. I won't question yours.

It's not going to keep me from trying to leave but I'll keep that in mind. If I do find a way, it'll have to be so those who want to stay can.

Keep in mind that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Four months. Not long at all compared to some people, but I've done well enough.

I know someone who's been here four years now. It surprises me really just how long some people have gone without being sent back.

But it's good to hear you've adapted well.

I know a few of those myself. Four years away from everything one knows is enough to change just about anyone.

How about you? Despite not wanting to be here, how have you been holding up?

A lot can happen in four years, after all.

I'm doing alright. Just worried about how my brother's holding up without me.
