ossifragant | 009 Things Acquired

You know, there's something to be said about this place.

I get here in April and things are strange as a newcomer. It takes some getting used to, but it's not all bad. Then there's May and that's when things get screwy. The weird hail during an otherwise sunny week, and then that weekend when everything went to hell with the crystals and people popping up who aren't normally here. I only wish I could remember more of it clearly.

Then, in June, it snowed that one day. Actually snowed! In the middle of summer! What the hell are the chances of that? It melted the next day naturally so whatever caused it fixed itself.

July gave us a hurricane with sharks flying through the air and then August was suspiciously normal when it comes to weather.

Now, here we are, three days into September, and we've already had dogs and cats falling from the sky like someone up there is taking a metaphor a little too literally.

I'm disappointed we didn't get snakes raining from the sky today. Or porcupines.

I've been here just about five months now and I must admit this place has its ways of keeping a person entertained.

What other things do you think we'll see?

I don't know. It seems kind of exciting. It's been a mystery the first three days and I bet it'll be a mystery for however long this lasts.

I want to see more cats. Maybe a couple of lizards and a few things that start out looking cute but then they evolve and become a threat.

It's like a surprise party every day, only with more chances of accidental mauling then?

I haven't seen a lot of lizards yet, actually, but I'm still starting out. Fingers crossed your wish comes true.

Mauling would be rather unfortunate.

With any luck we'll be able to avoid anything quite like that. I'm sure it'll be interesting regardless.

True, I got a few for people. But just the one for myself.

How's yours, since we're on the subject?

Doing well. I tried to let her out in the pond by Sprout Tower while we were there, but I've kept her in the box while we're traveling. I don't think there's any real bodies of water on the way to Goldenrod.

I plan on letting her be in the sea again for a little while once we get there, however.

I'm in the same position. Can't have a shark out when traveling with no water to speak of.

Goldenrod has plenty of oceanfront. I'm sure she'll like it when she gets there.

I think I'll like it too. Cloudbank, my home, was a waterfront city. It was the one thing that never seemed to change, funnily enough.

Dublith has a huge lake. It's nothing a shark could swim in, being freshwater, but I imagine there are plenty of Pokemon here who would enjoy it.

Though people might ask questions when they see giant blue alligators walking around.

Probably. Maybe.

Where I'm from, there are things that one could mistaken them for. Things that aren't quite legal. Maybe I could explain them off as normal animals, maybe not.

I like it better here anyway.

Sounds interesting. You'll have to tell me more about it, sometimes.

I miss what Cloudbank was like myself... But after everything, I admit I prefer it here too. There's just someone missing, and it'd be better.

What's Cloudbank like? Big City? Small town?

It's a city. One of those places that's always busy and changing, you know? So many different kinds of people lived there, and the results were always amazing.

Sounds a little like Central. It's the biggest city in Amestris. Lots of people and places. I don't like going there; too big for me, but obviously a lot of people call it home.

You sound a little like someone I know, saying that.

I can see how it would be nice, however, being somewhere smaller. Big cities can be pretty tiring sometimes.

Even Central was a lot smaller when I first saw it than it is now. Dublith, the town I'm from, is pretty big now. Still small, but a military base has sprung up and the town probably grew around it.

There's a military?

Amestris is a militarized society. The country is run by the highest ranking military officer.

I see... I've really only see military in movies and things like that.
